Mouni Roy will be seen opposite Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor in Ayan Mukherji's Brahmastra

TV actress Mouni Roy’s grand Bollywood debut alongside Akshay Kumar hasn’t even hit the screen and she has bagged another multi-starrer project.

After Gold, She will be playing a key role in Ayan Mukerji’s next fantasy adventure movie, Brahmastra, reports Indian Express. The film also stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and legendary Amitabh Bachchan. It will be produced by Dharma Productions and Fox stars Studios.

Earlier, several reports suggested the film would be a remake of Hollywood’s superhero movie Deadpool but the official title, which is a Sanskrit term, hints the story would be much more rooted in nature.

Brahmastra is a weapon of Hindu God Brahma, who is the creator of universe. While speaking about the title, Ayan claimed it refers to the “ancient wisdom, energies and power” in his upcoming film.

The shooting will reportedly start next year and will be wrapped up by early 2019. The release date for Brahmastra has already been locked on – 15th August, 2019.

As for Mouni, “She recently came on board and will start shooting early next year, when the film goes on floors. For now, Ayan is keep other details of her role under wraps,” a source close to the project revealed as per reports in Mumbai Mirror. More details of her role are awaited.

But for now, the main focus is on her debut film Gold. The film will tell us the remarkable success story of the Indian hockey team that won the first Olympic Gold post-independence. Akshay Kumar will likely play the role of Balbir Singh (Senior), a former hockey player who was part of the champion Indian team.

Mouni Roy will be seen as his onscreen wife. The film also features Amit Sadh and Kunal Kapoor. Gold has been directed by Reema Kagti.
