Sound Engineer Eric Pillai might have handful of awards but he likes to be grounded. He reveals that how he never goes to collect his awards except for a few of them.
Eric has bagged the IIFA Award for Barfi in 2013 and Ek Villain in 2015. He also bagged the Gima Award for Love Aaj Kal in 2010, for Dabangg in 2011, Aashiqui 2 in 2014 and Ek Villian in 2015. He also received Big Star Indian Music Award 2011 for I Hate Luv Storys and Mirchi Music Awards- Album of the year for Shershah in 202/2021.
Talking about his recognitions, Eric states, “It’s a good feeling. When I got my first award for Love Aaj Kal in 2010, it was an amazing feeling since I bagged 4 nominations out of total 5 in the category. I had always aspired to get awards like my seniors. I felt out of the world. Post that, I got awards for I I Hate Luv Storys, Dabangg, Barfi, Aashiqui 2, Ek Villain etc.”
“It was a dangerous feeling too since pride can seep in. I have gone through the feeling that I am indispensable which is not good. I realised this over a period of time. I don’t go to collect my awards generally except for three of them,” he further says.
“I like to connect with reality. For me, these awards are a good opportunity to be recognised but the reality is my work. 2025 is my 29th year of working in the industry. Working on a mix everyday is the biggest award for me,” he adds.
