Mission Raniganj box office: Akshay Kumar starrer witnesses a drastic fall on its first Monday

After underperforming in its opening weekend at the box office, Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra starrer Mission Raniganj witnessed a drastic dip on its first Monday. As per the early estimates, the film raked in around Rs 1.25 crore and currently stands with a grand total of Rs 13.85 crore. Looking at the current scenario, we can expect Mission Raniganj to end its theatrical run around Rs 17-18 crore. While it has turned out to be another disappointment at the box office, it has a chance to perform well on Friday as National Cinema Day will be celebrated across the country.

For the unversed, Mission Raniganj is inspired by Jaswant Singh Gill, the man who saved the miners from Mahabir Colliery in Raniganj, West Bengal on the night of November 13, 1989. The film also features Parineeti Chopra, Kumud Mishra, Pavan Malhotra, Ravi Kishan, Varun Badola, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Rajesh Sharma, Virendra Saxena, Shishir Sharma, Ananth Mahadevan, Jameel Khan, Sudhir Pandey, Bachan Pachera, Mukesh Bhatt, and Omkar Das Manikpuri. Talking about the review, Firstpost gave the film 3 stars and wrote, “The movie rightfully highlighted how life of the proletariat class is considered to be nothing as compared to the egos of the big shots in the business. It also highlights how the proletariats are still ignored in India. They go down the dead hole for meagre wages at the risk of their lives and not even a proper medical kit is provided to them. The film also shows corruption at different levels. Leaving aside the drawbacks of the film,  Mission Raniganj on the whole is a well-researched film and an engrossing human-drama which needs to be watched.”
