Men in Black: Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones will reportedly not star in 2019 spin-off

In a spin-off of sorts, the Men in Black franchise is coming back to the screens. Of sorts, because Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones “aren’t expected to reprise” their roles, as per a report by Deadline. Image from Twitter/@denofgeek[/caption] Sony will be releasing another MiB film on 17 May, 2019, the script of which is written by Matt Holloway and Art Marcum. Set in the same universe as the previous installments, the makers have decided to modernise the premise to strike a chord with audiences all around the world. The script is expected to be a class apart since the writers have previously worked on Iron Man and Transformers: The Last Knight’s. The story shall borrow from what already exists — the suave squad protecting the planet from unwanted aliens. According to The Independent, the new installment will be produced by Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald and executive produced by Steven Spielberg. Eager to pull off a Jurassic World, the makers want to take the franchise to the next level — take it up a notch while still being about the glorious past. Apart from the spin-off, a 21 Jump Street and MiB mashup is also in talks. However, the MiB spin-off might hit the theaters before that.
