Marvel announces new five-issue comic miniseries called Star Wars: Vader - Dark Visions
Notorious Star Wars villain Darth Vader will appear in a brand new five-issue comic miniseries called Star Wars: Vader - Dark Visions, Marvel announced on Wednesday.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the first issue of the comic series is set to launch in stores in March 2019. Star Wars: Vader - Dark Visions has been written by Dennis Hopeless with illustration on issue 1 by Paolo Villanelli and issue 2 by Brian Level.
This comes following the firing of writer Chuck Wendig, whose Darth Vader series, Shadow of Vader, was cancelled by Marvel last month due to his outspoken social media presence.
According to a Marvel press release, Star Wars: Vader - Dark Visions will take "readers to the darkest parts of the galaxy. Places where even the mysterious anti-hero known as Darth Vader can be someone’s greatest fear, and even…someone’s greatest hope."
The series will add to Disney's growing slate of Star Wars TV shows and movies since it bought Lucasfilm in 2012. The franchise is based on the original 1977 science-fiction movie set in a galaxy far, far away. Star Wars: Episode IX is expected to land in theaters in December 2019 while Jon Favreau is currently writing and executive producing a live-action Star Wars series called The Mandalorian for the company’s planned streaming platform, Disney+.
