Manoj Bajpayee’s Joram released in cinemas on December 8 and didn’t meet the expectations in terms of commerce. Many have believed the reason was the wave of two big films- Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal and Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur. In a recent interview, the actor spoke about the obsession with the box-office collections and how they are being thrown at people’s faces Speaking to Network 18, Bajpayee said, “We knew that ‘Animal’ and ‘Sam Bahadur’ are two very big films. A lot of money was spent on both films. There was and is still a hype around ‘Animal’. But we couldn’t afford to spend that much money on our film because ‘Joram’ was a different kind of film, and we could only allot a certain amount of money to promote and publicise it.” Also, in an exclusive interview with Firstpost, while talking about the film, Bajpayee said, “Devashish gets very young and excited people as cameramen who are not interested in just lighting it up and staying away from the characters. They try to go with the rhythm of the performance and are very close to you without you being aware of it. I got to experience some very crazy and fluid camerawork on this film, or whenever I worked with him. One of his cameramen Piyush was dieting so that he could run with the camera and keep pace with his film.” He added, “I’ve said this in many interviews that the world my character in Joram comes from is very similar to the milieu that I come from, so I have seen it first hand. We are aware of the work conditions and conflicts they go through, so you just have to go back in the past and get those experiences alive.”
