Manish Malhotra's 50th birthday bash to be planned by Karan Johar; Katrina kick-starts celebration

Karan Johar and Manish Malhotra’s friendship is nothing short of legendary. The two have been friends for more than two decades; and Manish Malhotra’s outfits are as much a staple of Karan Johar’s films as is Shah Rukh Khan or the ‘all about loving your family’ theme. The filmmaker is hosting a grand bash on 5 December to mark his designer best friend’s birthday, as reported by Times of India. A source has informed the daily, “Everyone who’s been associated with Manish all these years will be invited. The invitations roll out on Monday. Everyone from Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan to Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, among many others, are expected to turn up. A suburban five-star has been booked,” The dress code is going to be formal, with ‘a touch of gold’ to mark the 50th birthday milestone and the menu will have have a mix of Punjabi dishes to mark Manish Malhotra’s Punjabi heritage, added the source. Till then, Manish Malhotra is celebrating the prelude to his birthday in Maldives. The designer is shooting for Harper’s Bazaar Bride India with Katrina Kaif, and he cut a cake with the Fitoor actress on location. Through his official Instagram handle Manish posted a picture of himself with Katrina star and captioned it as “#maldives #LongWorkingDay #FashionShoot with the very #gorgeous #KatrinaKaif
