Dharmajan was questioned for an hour and shown a photograph of him with one of the main accused in the case, Pulsar Suni. "That photograph must have been shot at a movie location. I do pose for photographs with people at shooting locales," he told the police in response.

On the same day, Suni said that he would reveal the names of the “big sharks” involved in the conspiracy of the abduction.

He is currently in police custody for five days, where he is being grilled by detectives about how he came to possess a mobile phone in the district jail.

The police also summoned Anoop, the brother of Malayalam actor Dileep. Reports suggest that Dileep and his friend and director Nadirshah will be questioned again.

Dileep got involved in this case when his name appeared in a letter of a jail inmate who shared a cell with Suni, who is believed to have shared details of the incident with him.

Dileep claimed that he did not know Suni, but police has established that Suni was at the shooting location of Dileep's film in November at Thrissur. On 3 July, the pictures of this were out on TV channels.

Dileep claimed that the victim and perpetrator knew each other, and even made a remark about how the Malayalam actress in question should be careful while making friends. The actress said that she would take legal action if such baseless remarks were made.

The Kerala police declared on 4 July that they are probing a conspiracy angle in this case. "The main charge sheet has already been filed and now it's the conspiracy angle that is being probed. The probe is going on in the right direction," said Additional Director General of Police, B Sandhya.

The probe team has listed the names of people in the film industry who are suspects in the case, and will serve notices to them to appear before the team.
