Malayalam actor KN Jagannatha Varma passes away aged 77; was ailing with penumonia

Veteran Malayalam film and TV actor KN Jagannatha Varma passed away in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday, 20 December 2016. He was 77. Varma had been suffering from pneumonia, and had been hospitalised for a while.

Varma began his film career with the A Beem Singh's Mattoli. In the time since, he has acted in hundreds of films and TV shows.

Prior to acting in films, Varma had a long and illustrious career in Kerala Police. He retired as Superintendent of the police force.

At the same time, he was always creatively inclined and was said to be an accomplished Kathakali artiste.

Varma is survived by his wife Santha, son Manu (who works in TV) and daughter Priya.
