On Mahesh Babu’s 41st birthday on 9 August, fans of the star had some good news to look forward to. If the bilingual Babu recently signed with AR Murugadoss wasn’t enough, he has now teamed up with Vamsi Paidipally for another bilingual. The star apparently was impressed with the story and felt it would depict him in a different avatar. Reported to be a romantic thriller, this release is something fans are eagerly looking forward, especially because of Vamsi’s previous hit Oopiri. Babu needs a hit after the failure of Brahmotsavam, and teaming up with Vamsi may just be the shot-in-the-arm the actor needs. Vamsi has previously directed stars like Karthi, Nagarjuna and Junior NTR in his films. He has a reputation for bringing out the best from his actors, and for delivering smart, entertaining scripts. Mahesh Babu, on the other hand, has found his choice of films like Brahmotsavam being criticised, especially after he won the Filmfare Award for Srimanthudu. The last thriller we saw the actor in was Nenokkadine. However, the film did not manage to create much magic at the box office. In that context, the film with Vamsi gains even more importance. _Also read on Firstpost — Open letter to Mahesh Babu: As ardent fans, we know you can do better than ‘Brahmotsavam’_ As for Babu’s project with AR Murugadoss, The News Minute reports that stunt choreographers Anbu and Arivu, who received major appreciation for their work in the Rajinikanth-starrer Kabali, have been roped in. Both the Vamsi and Murugadoss projects will portray the Telugu superstar in an unusual way. Also, while his previous releases like Okkadu and Pokiri were remade in Hindi and Tamil, this will be the first time Babu is working in a bilingual. Will these adventurous choices help Mahesh Babu move past the disappointment of Brahmotsavam? Watch this space.
