For the first time, a draft policy has been prepared by the Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MSCPCR) in order to protect children who participate in reality shows, as well as other forms of entertainment such as the circus. IBNLive[/caption] The child policy draft, according to a report in the Indian Express, also asks the state to assume the role of the “nourisher” of the child, from time of birth till they reach the age of 18. The initial drafts of the report had been prepared in 2012 when a case was lodged by the parents of working children. The report had included recommendations such as “proper arrangement for their studies and entertainment at the shooting venue, ensure no physical stress during the shooting, and see that a child eliminated from a reality show must not be subjected to adverse/harsh comments by judges,” according to the Indian Express report. Earlier this month, the MSCPCR acted on the complaint of an NGO on the difficulties involved in rescuing children working in factories, said that the managers and employees of factories that flout regulations will be booked under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Juvenile Justice Act.
