Madhuri Dixit might replace late actress Sridevi in Karan Johar's upcoming period drama Shiddat

Late actress Sridevi’s last film Mom had marked her return to films after Gauri Shinde’s 2015 film English Vinglish. The crime thriller was a hit at the Indian box office and Sridevi was already in final negotiations for a Karan Johar movie, tentatively titled Shiddat, reports DNA. However, after the legendary actress’ untimely demise, reports suggest that Madhuri Dixit may replace her in the film. Image from Twitter/@Dubaiinformer[/caption] Johar, who was known to be close to Sridevi, apparently thinks that Madhuri would be the perfect choice for the role, which would now be a tribute to the late actress. According to the same report, Madhuri is yet to give her nod to the project, but talks are on. Shiddat also marks the fourth collaboration between Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, who debuted with Johar’s Student of the Year. Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur are also rumoured to be a part of the project, which is being helmed by 2 States director Abhishek Varman. Although Sridevi’s fans were excited to see the actress share screen space with such an ensemble cast, her untimely passing has forced the makers to reportedly look for a replacement. Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Zero will now be Sridevi’s last film, where she will be seen in a guest appearance.
