M Rajesh could replace Vignesh ShivN as director of Sivakarthikeyan's next Studio Green film
The latest buzz in Kollywood is that Thaanaa Serndha Koottam director Vignesh ShivN has reportedly told his production house Studio Green that he needs more time to complete the script work for his next. Vignesh had previously agreed to do a film with Sivakarthikeyan and Studio Green. Sivakarthikeyan and Vignesh had also confirmed their possible collaboration in various interactions with the media.
Vignesh might do a film for Studio Green but he is not ready for an immediate project. Sources say that director M Rajesh of Boss Engira Baskaran and Oru Kal Oru Kannadi fame is likely to direct Sivakarthikeyan’s next for Studio Green.
“Rajesh recently got a call from Studio Green to know whether he would be interested to narrate a script to Sivakarthikeyan. The meet happened on Saturday and if all goes well, he will be directing Sivakarthikeyan’s next for Gnanavel Raja’s Studio Green”, say a source close to the filmmaker.
Rajesh wrote a script for his friend Santhanam and the film was supposed to be produced by Sri Thenandal Films. But recently, the production house told Rajesh and Santhanam that they are not in a position to bankroll the film. Rajesh is said to have modified the script to suit the image of Sivakarthikeyan and got a green signal from the actor at the Saturday meet.
Sivakarthikeyan is expected to simultaneously shoot for Rajesh’s film for Studio Green and Ravikumar’s film for 24 AM Studios from May.
“Currently, Siva has finished nearly 80% of his rural entertainer Seema Raja. From May, he will begin the sci-fi film with Ravikumar and Rajesh’s comedy entertainer. In this year, fans of Sivakarthikeyan expect minimum two releases”, said a source close to the actor.
Generally, Studio Green is known for signing actors and technicians on a two-film contract. When Rajesh directed All in All Azhagu Raja with Karthi in 2013, he was also signed to do another film for Studio Green and Sivakarthikeyan signed a project for the production house after Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga (2013). The production house had also signed Kabali and Kaala director Pa Ranjith when he made Madras.
Insiders say that an official announcement on Rajesh-Sivakarthikeyan film will be out after TFPC’s strike. Recently, the Tamil Film Producers Council warned Gnanevel for organising a grand launch for Vijay Devarakonda’s NOTA but the producer was not aware of the curfew.
After the launch event of NOTA, TFPC sent a statement to its members and instructed them to not hold press meet and film events until they find an amicable solution for the ongoing issue with the digital service providers.
