Las Vegas mass shooting leads to cancellation of Blade Runner 2049 red carpet event

Warner Bros Pictures, the banner which is distributing Denis Villeneuve’s neor-noir science fiction film Blade Runner 2049, called off the film’s grand red carpet event scheduled to take place on Tuesday night, in wake of the Las Vegas shootout. Pictures, Sony Pictures and Alcon Entertainment are cancelling the red carpet for tomorrow’s screening of  Blade Runner 2049 .  We join the rest of the country in sending heartfelt thoughts and prayers to all those affected by this tragedy.” Los Angeles Times reports that while a private screening will be held for the cast, crew and a few selected guests, there will be no afterparty in order to celebrate the release of the long awaited film. The makers decided to tone down the celebration on Monday, a day after 58 were declared dead in the deadliest US mass shooting in Las Vegas. At least 58 people were killed and 500 injured when a heavily armed “lone wolf” gunman opened fire from a 32-floor hotel room on an open-air concert on the Las Vegas Strip. Blade Runner 2049 stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Dave Bautista and Jared Leto among others. It is the sequel of Ridley Scott’s 1982 film Blade Runner and is slated to release this Friday on 6 October.
