Koffee with Karan season 6: Sonam Kapoor, Rhea talk about father Anil; Harshvardhan reveals he turned down Andhadhun

The sibling trio Sonam Kapoor, Rhea and Hashvardhan featured on the latest episode of Karan Johar’s celebrity talk show  Koffee with Karan . While Sonam has appeared three times before, Harshvardhan and Rhea made their Koffee debut. Like every episode, this one too saw the celebrities open up about themselves and compete for the Koffee hamper.

The conversation began with them discussing their famous father Anil Kapoor, whom they lovingly address as AK and mother Sunita as Sonu. Sonam volunteered to go first, “He goes to the gym, he works out for precisely 45 minutes but he’s in the gym for three hours. He’s walking around, looking at himself and then working out!” Rhea spoke about Anil’s “acting classes”, where they would wake up to him screaming in the house. “Sonu is so used to him,” she added.

The siblings also revealed that Anil usually recites a mantra to motivate himself, “I’m killing it. I’m gonna kill everybody, I’m gonna do this.”

Rhea talked about Sonam and Anil’s dynamic and said that they were “such creative, crazy sensitive personalities that they can’t handle each other’s reactions.” She said that she sometimes has to play the messenger between for her father whenever he has to convey something to Sonam.

Karan also played a video message that Anil had recorded for his children. “We are really, genuinely blessed to have all three of you as children. Karan, I’m proud of you also,” the actor said. In the video, he mentioned that Harshvardhan has never celebrated a birthday since he was seven.

On their father’s request, Rhea mimiced Kareena Kapoor and disclosed how the actress refused to rehearse for ‘Tareefan’ in Veere Di Wedding. She said that Sonam does not remember the words to the song and Kareena was lip syncing the wrong lyrics on set.

Sonam also spoke about how she supports the LGBTQ movement. “I’m a huge advocate for LGBTQI (Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex). For me, it is one of the most important things that I fight for, and I hope for when there is a country and a world without labels. I’m very happy and proud that India has taken a step forward and people can live and love the way they want to love and that’s very important to me. And I think it should be very important to everybody in this world.” The trailer from the actress’ upcoming film  Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga  released on 26 December, and has created ripples for indicating the depiction of same-sex relationship in mainstream cinema.

Karan also spilled that Andhadhun was first offered to Harshvardhan, last seen in Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, who turned it down.

The talk show host referred to Sonam as a “bonafide leftist.”

In the rapid fire round, Sonam said she looks best paired opposite both Salman Khan and Fawad Khan. She also said that she would love to romance husband Anand Ahuja to the song ‘Yeh Raat Aur Yeh Doori’ from Andaz Apna Apna and claimed that her fashion sense was better than everybody out there.

Harshvardhan, who was the quietest of the lot, won this round with his sharp witted answers. He will start shooting for Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra’s biopic in January 2019.

Twitter users reacted to the newest episode of the talk show and seemed particularly bothered by Harshvardhan’s silence.
