The Prashant Neel directorial was also released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The combined opening day total of the four languages is being pegged at Rs 18.1 crore.
KGF is the biggest film ever produced in the history of Kannada cinema, and is being compared to Baahubali in terms of grandeur and scale. The rags to riches tale revolves around the journey of one man (played by Yash), who rises from the dusty streets of Mumbai to become the ruler of the now-defunct Kolar Gold Fields. The big-budget action extravaganza also stars Ramya Krishna, Anant Nag and Achyuth Kumar, apart from Yash.
