The news was confirmed by The Academy, who tweeted:
Quoting Hart, The Academy also said that they were happy to have Hart on board.
Hart has earlier hosted the MTV Movie Awards along with his Central Intelligence co-star Dwayne Johnson, who is expected to join the comedian on live global broadcast, IndiWire states . Jimmy Kimmel congratulated Hart on Twitter, lauding the Academy’s choice.
Hart succeeds Kimmel, who hosted the last two editions of the Oscars. However, the ratings every year have declined, with it plummeting to a record low of 26.5 million viewer in 2018, said The Hollywood Reporter.
