KBC season 9: Jamshedpur's Anamika Mazumdar becomes first contestant to win a crore
Hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, Kaun Banega Crorepati has got its first 'crorepati' on season 9 of the popular game show.
Hailing from Jamshedpur, Anamika Mazumdar took home the prize of one crore after answering the question without having any lifelines left. The social worker reportedly tried to attempt the seven crore question, however she quit after realising she did not know the answer.
“Anamika was a very practical and reasonable kind of a person who took each question very seriously. When she reached the crore mark, even with no lifeline left, she reasoned all the options before choosing the right answer. Even Big B was surprised with her confidence and risk-taking attitude," said an unverified source, according to an Indian Express report.
Mazumdar is reportedly a music lover, is married and has two children. She is a social worker who runs an NGO called Faith in India which is dedicated to the upliftment of women in the state of Jharkhand. Mazumdar shared that she would use the prize money to support the cause that she believes in at the beginning of the episode.
The episode is expected to premier in the coming month. Badminton ace PV Sindhu will also appear in the same episode.
