Kareena Kapoor was offered a role in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Aanand L Rai's next?
There are speculations that before Anushka Sharma got a role in Aanand L Rai's upcoming Shah Rukh Khan-starrer, it was offered to Kareena Kapoor.
It is no news that in filmmaker Aanand L Rai's upcoming venture with Shah Rukh Khan, the superstar is supposedly donning the role of a dwarf.
Firstpost, in one of its reports, said that Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma have been finalised as leading ladies in the film. While Katrina came on board earlier this year, there was a lot of speculation surrounding the casting of another female lead in the film, being produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Colour Yellow Productions, until the Rai himself came up and declared Anushka as the other leading lady.
Anushka's role was apparently intended for some other heroine. According to a report by DNA, Rai had Kareena Kapoor Khan in his mind for the role. The filmmaker apparently also approached Kapoor but she declined the offer because her dates were clashing with Veere Di Wedding. She also did not want to start shooting immediately post her delivery as she wanted to lose all extra weight that she had put on during pregnancy.
Hence, Rai approached Anushka Sharma for the role and she readily accepted. Rai, speaking to Bombay Times, said, "I'm thrilled that Anushka joins Shah Rukh and Katrina for my next. From our very first meeting, she had an instant connect with the character. She seemed very excited about the challenges that this role entails."
Had Kareena Kapoor accepted the offer, it would have been her first film with the director. Her association to Shah Rukh Khan is pretty old. Both of them have been featured together in Asoka, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Ra One.
While it is known that Kapoor is all set to begin shooting for Shashanka Ghosh's Veere Di Wedding also starring Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania.
There has also been speculation that Kareena may be working next with Karan Johar.
