Kareena Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur, Ameesha Patel: When Bollywood actresses unfairly targeted Bipasha Basu for bizarre reasons

Mrunal Thakur and Bipasha Basu have been in the news for a while for their ongoing controversy. Amid the same, Mrunal recently cleared the air surrounding the rift by taking to her social media and stating that a “playful banter” went too far. She issued a public apology statement, mentioning that her intent was never to body shame anyone.

“19-year-old me as a teenager said many silly things. I didn’t always understand the weight of my voice or how much words, even in jest, could hurt. But it did and for that I am deeply sorry. My intent was never to body-shame anyone,” her note read.

What did the actress say?

The actress was in a conversation with her Kumkum Bhagya co-star Arjit Taneja when all of a sudden she asked, ‘Do you want to marry someone manly with muscles? Go and marry Bipasha then.”

There are many actresses who have taken unnecessary digs at the Dhoom 2 actress in the past. Kareena Kapoor, during the making of their film Ajnabee, reportedly called her a Kaalee Billi when they had a fallout regarding their costumes.

Ameesha Patel too said in an interview back in the day how she would never be allowed to do a film like Jism. She clarified her stance further back in 2023 and said, “I still stand by what I said. I don’t think a Basic Instinct is a bad film. I think Sharon Stone is a goddess. And she’s super. I think Jism was a fantastic film too. It was a fabulous film with great music, great performances.”

The actress added, “All I am saying is why Bipasha. I am not comfortable being a Sharon Stone. I think it takes guts to be there and be bold. Physically Yes, I can be called sexy and hot. Am I that comfortable with that amount of boldness and skin show on screen? I am not.”
