Popular actor and comedian, Kapil Sharma’s Kap’s Cafe in Canada was shot at Thursday night. While there are reports that there is Khalistani link behind the firing incident, Kap’s Cafe has shared a strong statement and said that they “stand firm against violence.”

“We opened Kap’s Cafe with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy through delicious coffee and friendly conversation. To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking. We are processing this shock but we are not giving up,” Kap’s Cafe shared an official statement on Instagram.

“Your kind words, prayers, and memories shared via DM mean more than you know. This cafe exists because of your belief in what we’re building together. Let’s stand firm against violence and ensure Kap’s Cafe remains a place of warmth and community. From all of us at Kap’s Cafe, thank you and see you soon, under better skies,” the statement added.

As per Spokesperson Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton of Surrey Police said the investigation is currently in the early stages. “Connections to other incidents and potential motives are being examined. Once that’s done, we’ll have a better idea of what happened.” said Houghton.

Khalistani terrorist Harjit Singh Laddi has taken responsibility for the shooting. He said in a social media post that in The Kapil Sharma Show, a character made humorous remarks bout the dress or behaviour of Nihang Sikhs, which hurt their religious sentiments.

“These remarks were considered to hurt the religious sentiments of Nihang Sikhs. This mockery is a mockery of Sikh spiritual traditions and the dignity of Nihang Sikhs. No religion or spiritual identity can be made fun of in the guise of comedy,” read the post.
