Comedian Kapil Sharma will get married to his longtime partner Ginni Chatrath on 12 December in Jalandhar. The pre-wedding festivities - a mata ki chowki, mehendi ceremony and sangeet - took place in Amritsar, where Sharma's mother Janaki Devi lives.

The Indian Express writes that the events were attended by actor Krushna Abhishek, Sumona Chakravarti, Rajiv Thakur, comedienne Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa, among others. Several videos and photographs from the event were shared by the guests online and have also surfaced on fan accounts.

The couple will tie the knot at Grand Cabbana resort today and later interact with media and pose for photographers at 8.30 pm, adds The Indian Express. According to India Today, he will also live-stream the wedding on his YouTube channel.

His former colleague from Comedy Nights with Kapil, Sunil Grover also congratulated him. "We both have done some good work together so, there is an emotional connection. I congratulate him on his wedding. I pray that he remains happy. I hope that lady luck works for him. Earlier he used to create jokes on people's married life, now he will know how it feels after getting married," Grover told IANS.

The wedding will be followed by a reception on 14 December in Amritsar as well as another reception for his colleagues in Mumbai on 24 December. Following this, the comedian will begin shooting for The Kapil Sharma Show. The teaser for the show's second season was recently released and showed how comedy brings people closer from different societal strata and acts as the 'best medicine' for an ailing person.
