Kantara: Chapter 1 Vs Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari box office: Rishab Shetty starrer trumps Varun Dhawan-Janhvi Kapoor's rom-com by a huge margin

Rishab Shetty starrer Kantara: Chapter 1 and Varun Dhawan-Janhvi Kapoor’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari arrived yesterday (2nd October) at the box office on the occasion of the national holiday of Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra.

While it was always expected that the prequel to Kantara would take the lead, the gap in collections between the films is more than double here.

As per early reports, Sunny Sanskari has collected around Rs 9.25 crore while the Hindi version of Kantara: Chapter 1 stands approximately at Rs 21 crore. While both films will witness a slight dip today at the box office due to working Friday, they will witness an upward trend on Saturday and Sunday. However, the good point here is that since both films are riding high on positive word of mouth, there are high chances of them surviving at the ticket windows on weekdays.

Talking about the review, Firstpost gave Kantara: Chapter 1 three and half stars and wrote, " The action sequences are terrific and the cinematography is brilliant. The trance sequences played by  Rishab Shetty will win your heart. The only drawback of the film is the first half, when the enthusiasm dips every now and then. It is only in the second half that the film throws up some interesting turns. The visuals are brilliant throughout the film without an ounce of doubt. On the whole, the action sequences and the depth in the story has set the mood right for Kantara Chapter 1 ’s overall impact. Though it is a one-time watch, it is definitely a must-watch if you are a fan of folklore!"

On the other hand, SSKTK also got 3.5 stars from Firstpost, and part of its review read, “Khaitan, like his previous films, smoothly combines the love story with comical punches and witty one-liners to take the entertainment quotient to another level. While the first half is breezy and filled with laughter moments, a couple of melodramatic sequences make the second half a bit draggy. However, the entertainment quotient remains high due to the palpable chemistry between the leads and smart writing.”
