'Kangana Ranaut is a bonafide star; Bollywood is intimidated by her talent,' says Tanushree Dutta
After Anupam Kher, Kangana Ranaut has found another supporter in Tanushree Dutta, who helped propel India's second #MeToo wave. In an open letter addressed to the Manikarnika actress, Dutta showed solidarity and called her a "bonafide star as she is the only one who made it to the top of her game in Bollywood without the nagging support and recommendation of A- list male stars, without a high profile surname or an unrealistically perfect, pure and pious facade that most Bollywood actresses seem to wear on and off screen."
Tanushree also commended Ranaut for having made a "successful place for herself in an industry tough to conquer for an outsider". Ranaut has been the news ever since the release of her historical drama. After being embroiled in a row with co-director Krish over the directorial credit of the film, she called out fellow actors for ganging up against her.
She called out Alia Bhatt, in particular, for not supporting Manikarnika despite asking her to promote her own films on social media. Bhatt later responded to her saying she had not done anything to miff the actress and would happily apologise to her personally if she had.
