Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband and businessman Sunjay Kapur passed away in England while playing Polo on Thursday due to a heart attack at the age of 53 in England.

As per new reports, Sunjay   swallowed a bee by mistake during a game of polo, which led to a heart attack. But can a bee cause death?

Taking to her Instagram stories, actress and politician Kangana Ranaut wrote- “In another unbelievable event, Sunjay Kapur (Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband) was on the polo ground, a bee went into his mouth (yes madhumakki on the polo ground) stung him and blocked his windpipe, he couldn’t breathe so he asked the game to be stopped but immediately died of a cardiac arrest. Such tragic news.”

She added, “Also I am done trying to make sense of all the bizarre events that 2025 is bringing in to our lives. Everyone stay safe and keep praying to God (folded hands emoticon).”

Reports have said the businessman had a net–worth of Rs 10,300 crore. Sunjay and Karisma Kapoor tied the knot in 2003 and filed for divorce 13 years later. The couple has two children- Kiaan and Samaira. His youngest son, Azarias (with his third wife Priya Sachdev), is just 6.

The businessman had gifted bonds worth Rs 14 crore to the two, and also ensured a monthly income of Rs 10 lakh each for them, according to reports. The wealth passes on to his wife Sachdev as per the legalities.

Sunjay Kapur was the chairman of auto components maker Sona Comstar. They issued a statement post his demise.

The statement read- “His vision, values, and dedication to excellence has left a lasting legacy for the company. We assure our customers, business partners, employees, and shareholders that our operations and prospects remain unchanged as we honour his legacy.”
