Kajol has signed another film. No, it is not the Anand Gandhi film produced by her husband Ajay Devgn. Apart from that, she has given her nod for her second Tamil film Velaiilla Pattadhari 2, 20 years after her last Rajiv Menon's musical Minsara Kanavu.

The effervescent actor will be seen sharing the screen space with the Tamil superstar Dhanush in the sequel to his 2014 entertainer directed by Velraj. However, the sequel will be directed by his sister-in-law Soundarya Rajinikanth who made her directorial debut with the epic Kochadaiiyaan which released in the same year.

Soundarya directed her father Rajinikanth in her debut film. It was only befitting that the Tamil superstar inaugrated the shooting of her next. The mahurat took place last week and was attended by the entire cast and crew of the film, barring Kajol who will start her shooting schedule soon.

Kajol was last seen in Rohit Shetty's family drama Dilwale last year. As far as Tamil cinema is concerned, her last was back in 1997 when she played an aspiring nun in Minsara Kanavu, sharing the screen space with Arvind Swamy and Prabhudeva.

Velaiilla Pattadhari 2 will see her in a prominent role, the details of which have not been revealed yet.

However, the film is sure to be a hit given the track record of its prequel, its director and its lead actor at the box office. As the icing on the cake, The Indian Express reports that it will be co-produced by S Thanu's V Creations and Wunderbar Films, the production house of Dhanush and his wife Aishwarya Rajinikanth.

Thanu's last production was Pa Ranjith's superhit gangster drama film earlier this year, Kabali.

The Times of India reports that Amala Paul, Vivek, Saranya Ponvannan and Samuthrakani will reprise their roles from the first installment of the franchise
