‘Kaal Trighori’ is a dark supernatural thriller that delves into ancient myths and cosmic mysteries. The film’s story revolves around a rare celestial phenomenon that occurs only once in a hundred years, when three significant nights — Chaitra Amavasya, Chaitra Purnima, and Baisakhi Amavasya — fall within the same month. It is believed that this rare celestial alignment awakens a catastrophic power known in folklore as ‘Trighori’.
All of this is connected to a mysterious mansion, from which several people somehow become entangled — their lives changing forever. The film follows three interconnected individuals — Raviraj, his wife Madhuri, and their family friend Dr Manoj — who become trapped in a web of fear, faith, and fate during these cursed nights. As reality begins to blur and ancient forces awaken, they are haunted by a terrifying question: are they victims of a supernatural curse, or pawns in a calculated human conspiracy?
The film blends elements of a haunted mansion, voodoo dolls, and psychological horror inspired by Indian mythology. It’s a supernatural thriller with the tagline: “Some myths are real.”
Talking about the cast, every actor fits their role perfectly. Arbaaz Khan, making his debut in the horror genre, looks convincing and natural. Rituparna Sengupta once again proves why she is regarded as one of the finest actresses in Bengali cinema. Alongside them, Aditya Srivastava, Mahesh Manjrekar, Rajesh Sharma, and Mugdha Godse deliver strong performances that elevate the film.
Kaal Trighori takes Hindi horror cinema to a new level. The movie is filled with moments that both scare and intrigue the audience. The suspense is well-crafted through the use of lighting, set design, camera work, and background music. The cinematography is fine-tuned and visually appealing, and the overall direction by Nitin Vaidya is commendable.
This is a film best experienced in cinemas, where its chilling atmosphere truly comes alive. In the end, it can be said that Kaal Trighori even stands up to Hollywood-level horror films — though the faint-hearted should beware!
