Rabia had also asked for an SIT probe into her daughter’s death. Jiah — seen in films like Nishabd and Ghajini — was only 25 when she was found dead in her suburban Mumbai apartment on 3 June 2013. Her body was discovered hanging from the ceiling fan. Sooraj Pancholi, who she was believed to be in a relationship with, was charged with abetting her suicide a few days later, on 10 June. He was released on bail in just under a month. In 2014, the Bombay High Court asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the case. However, Rabia had expressed her unhappiness with the CBI’s findings.
