Jennifer Lopez Reveals Self-Financing Her $20 Million Musical Film 'This Is Me...Now': 'Everybody Thought I Was Crazy'

Singer-songwriter Jennifer Lopez took on an enormous challenge with her latest album,  ‘This Is Me… Now: A Love Story’, as she opted to open her wallet and self-finance a $20 million three-part multimedia project, examining her life as a serial romantic. The “narrative-driven, cinematic original” album that features a star-studded ensemble including Jane Fonda, Fat Joe, Trevor Noah, Post Malone, Sofía Vergara, Keke Palmer, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Jay Shetty, and Kim Petras drops on Prime Video on February 16. During an interview at the Four Seasons Los Angeles in Beverly Hills, the 54-year-old superstar said, “Everybody thought I was crazy when I said I would do it. We did have financing, and then that fell out. They pulled out at the last minute, and then it was that moment where you go, ‘Ok, do we just make a video or do we go ahead and do this thing?”. It is worth noting that Lopez hasn’t disclosed how much she plunked down. However, entertainment news portal Variety reported that she gambled a hefty $20 million (approximately Rs 1,600,000,000). This 65-minute musical, which delves into her relationship with Hollywood heartthrob husband Ben Affleck, signifies for Lopez both the end of an era and the renaissance of a new chapter in her musical journey, reports Female First UK.   In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the singer said, “We did a bunch of different album covers. We try to do stuff that’s very special for the fans and do collector’s items and things like that that they can have forever and ever. The truth is, I don’t even know if I’ll ever make another album after this. It’s such the quintessential kind of Jennifer Lopez J.Lo project, and I really feel very fulfilled, so they really will be collector’s items at a certain point.” On being asked if  ‘This Is Me… Now: A Love Story’  is her last studio collection, Jennifer said, “Don’t tell Benny (Medina, manager and collaborator)—that’s what I am thinking—this might be my last album ever. I feel like it’s the end of a kind of era for me and the beginning of a new one, so I would never say never, but right now I feel like I really put my heart and soul into this, and I’m very excited, and it definitely took a lot out of me.”
