Jasleen Matharu was one of the Bigg Boss 12 contestants to be shown the door this weekend, and quite unexpectedly she had a pretty long stint (12 weeks) inside the house. Right at the start, this budding singer-actress made headlines when she entered the Bigg Boss house with ghazal maestro Anup Jalota. Her revelation of dating the 65-year-old for the past three years came as a shock to the nation. Their 'relationship' always remained a bone of contention for other contestants and viewers, with everyone speculating whether it was merely a guru-shishya relationship or a romantic one. Inside the house, both Matharu and Jalota continued to hit headlines owing to their alleged romance. In fact, a candlelight dinner was arranged exclusively for the 'lovebirds' inside the house.

While Jasleen's father throughout maintained that he wasn’t aware of their relationship. He said he would ask his daughter about it when she came out. Jalota, who was evicted sometime early in November clearly stated that they weren’t in a relationship. However, having been eliminated from the controversial show, Matharu now has a different story to tell. “Actually it was just a prank. Last night when I came out after almost three months, I realised what had happened outside. Both, my dad and Anupji are really upset with me. My dad knew Anupji from before I was born. I started learning music from him. He is my guruji and I am his student. I am 28 and he is 65. I was shocked that it had become a national issue. I googled all that was written about me; I saw the memes about him and me," she said.

Point out to her that she had claimed to be involved with him on national television, she cuts in saying, "Our affair was a prank gone horribly wrong. When Bigg Boss came to me, I told Anupji, ‘Let’s go for it. The concept is 'vichitra jodi' and we can go as guru-shishya'. Initially he refused, but I convinced him. He entered and I followed. He told Salman that his student is behind him. I don’t know what struck me then that I thought of playing a prank. I told Salman that I am in a relationship with Anupji and we love each other. Anupji was stunned and had nothing to say. I thought he would react but he didn’t; and we had to enter the house immediately. That prank remained incomplete and I continued the joke inside the house, and Anupji played along. But when he realised things were going too far, he started clarifying," she explains.

Jasleen’s journey in the Bigg Boss house has been an interesting one with a lot of highs and lows. After her partner (Jalota) was evicted, everyone thought that she wouldn’t survive in the show without him. But Jasleen became a strong contender as she battled it out with week after week until the 12th week, where she got eliminated. Jasleen, who was seen to be bonding well with Dipika, Sreesanth and Megha over the last few weeks, strongly feels that Sreesanth will win the show. “I don’t know about the top three, but Sreesanth is likely to win because he is the only one who is real. He doesn’t have any qualms about showing all his emotions and all sides of his personality. If there is a winner in Bigg Boss 12, it has to be Sreesanth,” said Jasleen, further adding, Dipika and Karanvir are also playing smart. Karanvir can be naughty, fun. He has his own style; he is playing his own game. If they continue this way and stay calm, then they will also come in the finals.”

Jasleen was seen embroiled in multiple fights with Surbhi, Deepak and Rohit and they remained at loggerheads till the end. “I wasn’t aware about this kind of aggression on the show. They would be over aggressive during tasks. Snatching, abusing, pulling, pushing - they would go to the next level which I hadn’t seen before. It was very difficult for me to spend even a minute with them. I found Surbhi quite fake and someone with multiple personalities. But when there are only 10 people and that too locked inside a house, such petty fights are bound to happen. It’s obvious,” said Jasleen.
