As Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna gear up for the release for Ittefaq, reports of producers from the South showing interest in a Telugu version of the film have surfaced. As per a report by DNA, director Abhay Chopra and co-producer Juno Chopra have been approached by some Telugu producers to sell the remake rights of the film.

Releasing on 3 November, Ittefaq's mild promotional strategies seem to have worked in the thriller's favour. Bankrolled by Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar, the film revolves around two individuals who became main suspects in a double murder. Khanna probably plays a detective and also the judge of Sinha and Malhotra's fate in the film. Karan Johar had earlier Tweeted that Khanna is the only one who could decide whether the murders are an 'Ittefaq' or not.

The film is a remake of Yash Chopra's 1969 directorial by the same name, starring Rajesh Khanna, Nanda and Bindu. However, down South, the makers have shown interest in the current version. Although the promos and trailer of the modern take have managed to entice Telugu filmmakers, Abhay and Juno will not be part of the Telugu version, as per the same report.
