In 2003, Shahid Kapoor made his big-screen debut with Ishq Vishk, which became a musical hit and success among the audience. While the album is still fresh in our hearts, the USP of that movie was its relatable plot, which took every Gen X on a nostalgic trip.
After two decades, we have Ishq Vishk Rebound , which promises to showcase the mindset and traits of Gen Z regarding love and friendship. While the music and trailer have created immense curiosity among the audience, does it strike a chord with its execution? Let’s find out…
Raghav (Rohit Saraf) struggles to write an apt climax for his first big film, which he got after a production person (Kusha Kapila) was impressed by his play. To get that heart-wrenching climax, Raghav goes into a flashback, where he is with his besties Sahir (Jibran Khan) and Sanya (Pashmina Roshan). The trio are in their hometown Dehradun and spend maximum time together in college and their respective homes. Sahir and Sanya are in a relationship and whenever there is an argument or any kind of fight, Raghav is their go-to person.
Raghav falls in love with Rhea (Naila Grrewal) and whenever the latter wants to spend time with his boyfriend, he gets calls from Sahir and Sanya. One day, when Rhea and Raghav try to spend some quality moment, Sanya calls the latter and tells him that she and Sahir have broken up. Raghav gets distracted, which upsets Rhea and she dumps him.
Raghav tries to sort out the fight between Sahir and Sanya but fails as they both break up on an ugly note. While Sahir moves ahead to pursue his dream of getting the ‘sword of honour’ under the pressure of his father and goes to an institute, Sanya is shattered and disturbed and gets the shoulder of Raghav.
Sanya was supposed to go on a ‘Chill Trip’ with Sahir but since they are no longer together, she takes Raghav along with her. On the trip, they get close and a ‘Rebound Relationship’ is formed between them. But where will this bond take them and will it affect their rapport with Rhea and Sahir? Well, you have to watch Ishq Vishk Rebound on the big screen to get all your answers.
In the current era, where terms like situationship, and benching have become quite common along with rebound and other relationships, director Nipun Avinash Dharmadhikari has showcased the complicated take of Gen Z on dating, love life and romance.
Talking about the performances, Rohit Saraf carries the film with his boyish charm while Jibraan Khan impresses with his charismatic presence. Pashmina puts her best foot forward as Sanya, on the other hand, Naila delivers a mature act.
On the whole, Ishq Vishk Reboud’s plot, treatment and vibe are truly relatable to the current generation and is expected to garner appreciation and love from the college-going crowd.
