As the nation inches closer to the general elections, it seems like the political fever has also grappled the land of films. After Pankaj Tripathi’s Main Atal Hoon, Yami Gautam starrer Article 370 is also gearing up for its theatrical release. The trailer of the film was recently unveiled, capturing the social and political uproar surrounding Article 370, a special status granted to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. As soon as the trailer came out, it received a good response from the audience. However, many also raised questions, calling the film ‘propaganda-driven’. Breaking his silence on the same, producer Aditya Dhar stated that the current government does not require his film to win the elections. It was during the trailer launch event that Dhar explained the intent of the film. “The intent of the film is correct and till the time I am a filmmaker, producer, and director, the intent will always be right. The day the intent is wrong, I will stop making films. I don’t care what people say especially those who are agenda-given critics,” he said. Aditya Dhar on whether Article 370 is ‘propaganda-driven’ Clarifying whether the film is propaganda-driven, the producer said, “I don’t think about the critics who call it propaganda. I feel it’s the propaganda in their head that makes them look at this film as propaganda. ‘Article 370’ is an India-centric film. It is an incredible story. It is one of the best stories I have ever heard.” ‘The government doesn’t require a film to win the elections’ Apart from that, Dhar also took on the critics and trolls who have been questioning the timing of the film’s release, just a month before the general elections. “The government does not need a small film like Article 372 to win the elections. They have built the Ram Mandir which no one could do for the past hundreds of years. So I don’t think they need to rely on us.” he said.
