Andrakashari Mastanamma, the 107-year-old cook , who shot to fame on YouTube for her exceptional culinary skills, passed away on 4 December. The videos focus on providing easy-to-follow recipes that can be recreated with minimum ingredients and equipment. Moreover, she used to create dishes with international flavours but only using local produce; her signature recipes include watermelon chicken curry and village style KFC chicken. Her specialty, however, lay in seafood. Her video on making egg fried rice has garnered over 15 millions views. Followers also admired her ingenious style of cooking. The News Minute, two mediapersons from Hyderabad, K Laxman and Srinath Reddy were instrumental in starting the channel in 2016. Laxman shared a video of Mastanamma, who was also his distant relative, preparing a brinjal curry. The video instantly catapulted her into the YouTube space and made her into an Internet sensation overnight. Currently, her channel has over 200 videos on it. Mastanamma hailed from Gudiwada in the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. The report informs that she got married at the age of 11, but her husband passed away when she was 22 years old. She is now survived by her five children.
