India's Got Latent controversy: Mumbai Police rejects Ranveer Allahbadia’s request to record statement at home

The Mumbai Police has declined Ranveer Allahbadia’s plea to record his statement at his residence and instead asked him to appear at Khar Police Station in India’s Got Latent Controversy.

The content creator was summoned on Tuesday. In addition to Allahbadia , Ashish Chanchlani, Apoorva Mukhija, Samay Raina, and three others were called for questioning. Apart from content creators associated with the show, several celebrity guests, including Siddhant Chaturvedi, Uorfi Javed, Rakhi Sawant, Deepak Kalal, Raftaar, and Tanmay Bhat may face legal trouble.

For the unversed, in the latest episode of India’s Got Latent, Ranveer Allahbadia made a lewd comment as he asked one of the contestants, “Would you watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join once to stop it forever?"

After the backlash, the YouTuber shared a video apologising for his joke and said, “My comment wasn’t inappropriate; comedy is not my forte. I am just here to say sorry. Many asked, Is this how I use the platform? to which he stated, ‘Obviously, this is not how I wish to use it. I am not going to give any context or justification or reasoning behind whatever happened; I am just here for the apology,” he wrote. “I personally had a lapse, and judgment wasn’t cool on my path. The podcast is watched by people of all ages. I don’t want to be the person that takes that responsibility lightly, and family is the last thing that I would disrespect.”

“Need to use this platform better; that’s been my learning from this whole experience. I promised to just get better; I have asked the makers to remove the insensitive sections from the video, and all I can say in the end is, Sorry, I hope you can forgive me as a human being,” he added.

Samay Raina also deleted all the videos from his channel and wrote, “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all ‘India’s Got Latent’ videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you.”
