On October 12, Joseph Gordon-Levitt was joined by the talented Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao on the IFP Season 14 stage. In a candid conversation with Rao, he shared his admiration for Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi , directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, describing it as an exceptionally unique and beautiful film. He recalls, “I was just watching that movie and found it so unique and beautiful – completely different than really anything I’d seen. It was this very heavy, distinguished drama that felt almost like a (Martin) Scorsese movie at times. But then there are these gorgeous musical numbers that felt so sincere and well crafted. And I found myself completely enamored with this film. It made me want to learn more and more about Indian cinema. It’s honestly part of why I wanted to come here. I love what I’m feeling about the culture here. There’s such a genuine love for movies and artistry, and I want to come here and make a movie in India. I would really love to do that.”

Gordon-Levitt further expresses his enthusiasm for acting in an Indian film, saying he’d “love to sing and dance.”
