If you’ve been scrolling through social media or catching up on the latest film buzz, you’ve likely stumbled upon the name that’s on everyone’s lips: Sobhita Dhulipala. This talented actress is winning hearts left and right with her delightful performance as Sitara in the ZEE5 film Love, Sitara. Critics and audiences alike are lauding the movie for its heartwarming and relatable story making it a standout favorite this season.
The film revolves around Sitara, who makes an impulsive decision to propose to her boyfriend after three years of relationship. However, beneath this bold gesture lies a web of secrets, particularly surrounding her dysfunctional family, which unfurls during their trip to her family home in Kerala. Viewers have fallen in love with Sitara’s rollercoaster of emotions - her courage in the face of family secrets, her vulnerability in love, and her quest to understand herself. It’s not just another love story; Sitara’s journey feels like a mirror to real life, reflecting the challenges of family bonds and the struggle to find one’s true self.
When asked about the similarities between herself and Sitara, Sobhita Dhulipala said, “I think everyone has everything; however, the measure is different. That measure is also like water, rising and falling based on different moments in life. I like to think I’m brave, and I know I’m emotional and also very attached to and influenced by my family, just like Sitara. My family is my safe space. I think those nuances and those characteristics came very naturally to my character. However, I feel there are some traits that are very distinct from Sitara. Everywhere you can’t go, so your empathy goes. As an actor, I was able to feel for her and admire bits of her. I enjoyed playing Sitara, and I think I grew up a little bit playing her."
