'I am currently a very bad dancer, will work hard on it' admits Himesh Reshammiya

Mumbai: Himesh Reshammiya, who has tried several facets of showbiz like acting, singing, music composing, production, script writing, says that he now wants to improve his dancing skills.

When asked if we will see him in a dancing avatar, he said in an interview, "I am currently a very bad dancer, so not right now. But definitely, in the future will work hard on it. Inshallah, will show it through hard work."

While Himesh had started his career in the industry primarily as a music composer, he ventured into singing with the film, Aashiq Banaya Aapne, and then came up with his album, Aap Kaa Surroor and featured in those videos with actresses like Deepika Padukone and Minissha Lamba.

But he was never seen dancing in those videos and even after he turned actor with the film, Aap Kaa Surroor, he was never seen in any dance sequences.

His off-screen persona is generally considered very serious due to his roles in films like Aap Kaa Surroor, Karzzzz, and The Xpose, though he has also done light-hearted roles in films such as Damadamm!, and Khiladi 786, but he said, "Of course, in real life that intensity is there in me, but I am not intense and serious as much as people think.

But co-incidentally, such films of mine have come, where that intensity is there. And in the Surroor mould, it is definitely the intensity that works. But in the future, will also do a good comedy, and will also try to do light-hearted roles."

His songs in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Sanam Teri Kasam and his upcoming release, Teraa Surroor have been appreciated and Himesh wants to maintain the track record, he said, "I want to do very less work in terms of my music because to maintain the track record, like my hits in the last three years, less but good work and more hard work is essential.

Similarly, even in acting doing more than one film at a time is difficult because of the look, character, pre-production, designing. I want to put more effort so that I fulfill the expectations, And at this point in time, I have worked so much that now in a year, I want to do one film or so as an actor, about one film as a composer, 3-4 songs as a singer, about one reality show, live shows, so I wouldn't want to work more than that."

Himesh's Teraa Surroor is releasing on 11th March.

On Rukmini Devi Arundale's 117th birth anniversary, it is perhaps time to re-evaluate the scathing remarks relentlessly brought against her and her contributions to the world of Indian classical dance, Bharatanatyam in particular.
