Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil to release a day before Shah Rukh Khan's Raees on 25 January
Kaabil might be the comeback vehicle Hrithik Roshan need after Mohenjo Daro.
The Rakesh Roshan film Kaabil starring Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam was all set for its big clash with Shah Rukh Khan's Raees; with the two films set to release on the 26 January 2017.
To avoid the clash at the box office with a Shahrukh Khan film; which is generally a box office success, Rakesh Roshan has gone out of his way to ensure that Kaabil gets a fair chance at the box office.
Roshan Senior has therefore decided to release the film a day prior, that is on Wednesday, 25 January 2017 at 6 pm. This move was allegedly requested by his distributors as a way to encash on the Republic Day (January 26) holiday.
In a statement released by Sr Roshan, he mentioned, "There have been instances in the past of movies being released mid-week especially if there is a big national holiday following it. My director Sanjay Gupta and I are in agreement on this. After hearing what our distributors have to say, we thought it makes perfect sense go with a 25 January release."
Now Kaabil will enjoy a five day weekend which might help its clause a lot. Hrithik Roshan's last film Mohenjo Daro was panned by critics and didn't do well at the box office either. Roshan senior and Hrithik are counting on Kaabil to revive Hrithik's career.
