With its brilliant VFX and dedicated star cast and not just Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, all the actors delivered their best performance. A complete value for money, Fighter is perfect for the big screen. Helmed by Siddharth Anand, the film truly does justice in showing the contribution of the Indian Air Force for the safety, but to some extent there was too much glorification of nationalism. Based on the Pulwama incident when a convoy was blown off, making it into a masala entertainer must have been a task for the makers of
_Fighter_ . Keeping in mind the filmography of Siddharth Anand, he has delivered what he does best. But at some point I felt this could have been done with a little more sensitivity. [caption id=“attachment_13655032” align=“alignnone” width=“640”] Still from Fighter[/caption] Soldiers are after all soldiers, whether it is Indian or Pakistani, both sides of the character Pakistani soldiers could have been shown. And this could have been handled in a more sensitive manner. Adding the scenes of the high flying, glamorous life of the armed force officers and their families is far from reality, Siddharth Anand could have focused more on the bond among course mates which is close to reality. Most importantly, the chest thumping patriotism was not needed. The air drills and the action scenes shown in Fighter were brilliant, but the unnecessary melodramatic dialogues were not required. The admirable part of the film was the look of it. The best thing is that the movie gave equal importance to all the characters and not just Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone. All of them were heroes in their own way including the very dark Azhar Akhtar with poker straight hair and bloodshot right eye. Anil Kapoor as commanding officer looked brilliant. Everything was perfect and ‘officer like’ when it came to way the actors conducted themselves. The movie touched upon another brilliant thing and that was the importance of lady officers in the armed forces. Deepika Padukone as helicopter pilot Minnal Rathore, aka Minni is as skilled at her job as any male counterpart. We must admit that Karan Singh Grover as Sartaj ‘Taj’ Gill has given his best performance in Fighter. We hope to see him more on the big screen. WATCH trailer here:
After the flawed Tejas film, finally Bollywood delivers a brilliantly made movie on the Indian Air Force.
