How Rock On 2 team is ensuring demonetisation of Rs 500, 1000 notes doesn't affect release
PM Modi's decision to scrap the Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes will not affect the release of Rock On 2.
Prime Minister Modi’s decision to decommission the denominations of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes has evoked a positive response from the Hindi film industry. While the who’s who of the industry lauded his move and dubbed it as a “masterstroke”, the historic decision had quite an impact on the releases this week as well.
According to a report by koimoi.com, the makers of Saansein, which was slated to release this Friday, have postponed the release in wake of the PM’s decision, in order to allow the prospective viewers to adapt to the change.
“After an internal meeting with the team and with respect to Modiji’s decision, as an investor, the best way was to push the release of the film,” said Goutam Jain, producer of Saansein, as per the report.
Along with this news came the film enthusiasts’ apprehensions that the release of the long-awaited Rock On 2 might also get pushed.
However, the cast of the film took to Twitter to confirm that the release date remains unaffected and also spelled out some incentives taken by theater owners, film distributors and e-commerce apps that will make it convenient for the cine goers to watch the film.
The makers suspected that the audience will turn to online booking since purchasing movie tickets in denominations of Rs 100 notes will be inconvenient. So they talked to the theater owners and ensured that the convenience fees charged at the time of online booking in a particular chain of theaters is waived off.

Additionally, a number of other offers were also announced on Twitter by the team including the lead actor and co-producer Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal and Shraddha Kapoor. Deccan Chronicle reports that the other incentives include free ticket on every buy if you book via a particular e-commerce app and special prices for college students.
The crisis management by the Excel Entertainment team in the eleventh hour is commendable, but also speaks of apt business sense at a time of change like this.
Rock On 2, the sequel of the 2008 musical Rock On!!, stars Akhtar, Kapoor, Rampal, Purab Kohli, Prachi Desai and Shahana Goswami.
