The season finale for CBS’s hit television comedy series, How I Met Your Mother, might have left fans angry after the show but nearly 12.9 million viewers had tuned in to watch the show in the first place, according to a New York Times report. The NYT report says that “the series had 12.9 million viewers and posted its best-ever rating among those 18 to 49, an audience many advertisers pay a premium to reach.

In fact the show also beat the season finale of popular show Breaking Bad when it came to audience numbers. Breaking Bad had 10.3 million viewers for the finale.

The report adds that it had a strong audience among 18 to 49 year-olds. It points out that “How I Met Your Mother was unusually potent among those 18-to-49-year-old viewers, with a 5.3 rating. (Its previous best: 5.2) and that the show demonstrated that “a series on a broadcast network could still appeal to the lucrative younger demographic.”

As far as the show’s series finale was concerned, fans were divided over the end.The show which ended after nine long years have been trending on Facebook, Twitter as well as Google since it’s finale episode.
