Assamese singer Zubeen Garg passed away at the age of 52 recently due to a Scuba diving incident in Singapore. As a tribute to his legacy and contribution to cinema, even services and companies like Swiggy and Zomato paused their operations and remembered the singer in Assam. Only few medical shops and establishments were functioning.

“Zubeen Garg’s main charity organization is the Kalaguru Artist Foundation, which cooperates in various social activities, including providing assistance by collecting medicines, clothes and funds during floods in Assam, and charity football matches. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Garg contributed even more by converting his home in Guwahati into a Covid care center to meet the shortage of beds. Charity activities:

Flood relief:

Kalaguru Artist Foundation actively collected and distributed clothes, medicines and financial aid to flood affected communities in Assam.

Fund raising:

Garg participated in charity football matches to raise funds for flood relief efforts.

Covid-19 epidemic help:

During the rise in pandemic cases, Garg converted his two-storey home in Guwahati into a Covid care center, and used it as a place for patients when hospital beds were shortage.

Heritage:

Zubeen Garg is remembered not only for his musical contributions, but also for his important humanitarian actions.
