Holland Movie Review: Nicole Kidman plays Dutch in a not so overwhelming thriller

Set in a Michigan town and directed by Mimi Cave, Nicole Kidman plays the role of a discontented wife (Nancy) despite having everything in life which includes a beautiful home, happy family and a caring husband. She wants some adventure in her life. And rightly so, she doesn’t believe that she is leading a perfect life.

Nancy ( Nicole Kidman ) believes that her doctor husband, Fred (Matthew Macfadyen) is having an affair. She decides to play detective along with her colleague in school to dig out what’s actually happening and with whom her husband is having an affair. Then one fine day she comes across a model village that Fred is building in their garage. She gets suspicious again and realises that it is something more serious than an affair.

Holland is about an obnoxious amount of eccentricity and it fails to impress. It is so high on it that you will feel it to be totally unnecessary and link-less with the movie. Nicole Kidman’s frozen smile and expressionless eyes fail to make us feel happy or sad. There is nothing that is immersive about the film. Nicole Kidman and Matthew Macfadyen fail to impress as a couple. There are abstract dreams and some vague and inconclusive ideas which completely fails to engage the viewers.

All that is positive about the film, Holland showing on Prime Video is the beautiful look of it with its windmill and tulips!
