Harvey Weinstein sues Weinstein Company for access to records and to help himself

The Weinstein Co film company is now facing a lawsuit from its founder and former co-chairman Harvey Weinstein as he is keen to grab any kind of information that could help defend him against the sexual assault allegations. These files could also defend the company regarding any potential liability, reports  Variety.

As per the lawsuit filed in Delaware’s Court of Chancery, Weinstein insisted he wants the information in order to prevent the company from being damaged by unjustified legal settlements.

French President Emmanuel Macron says Sunday Oct. 15, 2017 that he wants to revoke Harvey Weinstein's Legion of Honor award after the wave of accusations of sexual harassment and abuse against the Hollywood titan. Earlier this month reports emerged that 65-year-old Weinstein had reached 8 previously undisclosed settlements with women who accused him of sexual harassment and unnecessary physical contact. As many as 13 women had alleged that they were sexually harassed or assaulted by Weinstein. On Tuesday, an actress who accused Weinstein of sexually harassing her lodged a negligence lawsuit against the company, insisting it already knew Weinstein had previously settled other allegations of harassment and assault and stopped or warned her before having a private meeting with the movie producer in a hotel room. The New York City Police Department is investigating an allegation of sexual assault by Weinstein in 2004. Even the Los Angeles Police Department has revealed there is an investigation going on over a 2013 sexual assault allegation against movie producer Harvey Weinstein. Although, the producer has always denied these allegations. In his lawsuit, Weinstein has claimed that he also wants to find out if confidential information was leaked to the press, or the Weinstein Company’s board and executives terminated him as chief executive illegally, and if the board is trying to pursue a “fire sale” of the company, according to the complaint and attached exhibits. “Mr. Weinstein believes that his email account, which is the only one he used throughout the time he was employed by the company, will contain information exonerating him, and therefore the company, from claims that may be asserted against them,” Weinstein’s lawyer wrote in an email to the Weinstein company, as per the Thursday’s filing.
