Los Angeles: Harry Shearer, the voice of Mr Burns and Ned Flanders, has left the animated TV series The Simpsons following a dispute with the producers.
TMZ reported that the 71-year-old has quit following a break down in talks over his contract and it was Simpsons writer and director James L. Brooks’ attorney who broke the story via Twitter.

Shearer is also known for his work on Saturday Night Live. He also co-wrote, co-created and starred in the cult favourite mockumentary This is Spinal Tap, satirizing the rock and roll culture.
Shearer has been with The Simpsons - which was recently renewed for a 26th and 27th run - since it began in 1989.
