Happy Birthday Dev Anand, the ultimate style icon of Bollywood

Dev Anand’s charisma has always been undeniable. Inspired by his childhood idol Gregory Peck, Dev Anand redefined India fashion during the 1950s and 1960s with his signature mufflers, jackets, scarves and of course, his puff. He was indeed a trendsetter and a style icon of Bollywood who gave a fillip to Bollywood fashion. Gifted with great looks and a very unique sense of style and a romantic on-screen image, there was a time when women simply swooned over him. Many ladies sent him letters written in blood. And he looked so dashing in a black suit that he was banned from wearing them in public as women would go mad over him and even jump off buildings! Many many years past his hey day, the mere thought of Dev Anand still evoked the image of a very lively man in brightly coloured cardigans, strip trousers and his cap perked to one side. Today, if the legend had been alive,  he would have celebrated his 89th Birthday. But Dev Anand’s legacy continues, and no one can ever talk about the trendsetter of Bollywood and not talk about him.
