Amazon Prime’s Hanna comes almost eight years after the Joe Wright film which depicted Saoirse Ronan as the teenage assassin. The streaming service promises to put a new spin on the much-loved action film. The teaser trailer dropped on Friday and showed the origin story of sorts where a child goes missing from the hospital. The chosen incident may be a propeller to set up the titular character’s future murderous ways. [caption id=“attachment_5840391” align=“alignnone” width=“825”] Still from Hanna teaser. YouTube screengrab[/caption] The scene opens with shots of a baby playing in its crib at the nursing home while a forlorn lullaby hums in the background. A few shots later, the baby is found to be missing. Amazon Prime’s Hanna will see The Killing‘s Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman step into the shoes of the characters played by Cate Blanchett and Eric Bana respectively in the original film. Hanna, played by Esme Creed-Miles, will be tracked down by Enos (Marissa Wiegler) who essays the role of steadfast but mysterious intelligence agent. The series will
reportedly also retain the original film’s Eastern European setting. Sarah Adina Smith, who had previously helmed Buster’s Mal Heart, will take up the directorial responsibilities for Hanna. The streaming service has scheduled a March release for the thriller series. Watch the Hanna teaser
