Hamari Adhuri Kahani trailer: Rajkumar, Emraan and Vidya promise powerful performances

There is a new Vidya Balan-Emraan Hashmi film, Hamari Adhuri Kahani, and if that brings to mind a nightmare of Ghanchakkar proportions, we totally understand. However, dispel your fears and take a look at this forthcoming Mohit Suri film because it just might surprise you. Here’s the trailer:

While a glimpse of Rajkummar Rao in any film’s trailer can bring hope to moviegoers, Rao doesn’t have too much screen time in Hamari Adhuri Kahani. In fact, initial reports claimed that the actor will only be doing an extended cameo in the film. Balan and Hashmi too seem to be back in their element. If the trailer is any indication, the two have an easy chemistry. Balan plays a woman who is married to one man but in love with another. Rao plays her abusive husband and Hashmi plays her lover. Hamari Adhuri Kahani has all the trademarks of a good Mohit Suri film – dramatic scenes, melodious music and melodramatic dialogues and a love story at the heart of the film. The trailer opens with a wild-haired and bearded Rao, throwing a violent tantrum. He gets arrested and Balan, his long-suffering but good wife, tries to get him out of jail. Somewhere along the way, she and Hashmi meet and fall in love. What happens next? We’ll have to wait for the actual film to find out. Hamari Adhuri Kahani has been written by Mahesh Bhatt and is based on the love story of his parents, Nanabhai Bhatt, Shirin Mohammad Ali and his stepmother. This is the last film of the three-film deal signed between Vishesh Films and Fox Star Studios, the first two being City Lights and Mr. X. Let’s hope this one will have better luck at the box office. Hamari Adhuri Kahani releases on June 12, 2015.
