Gotham season 4 trailer: Scarecrow returns as antagonist, Bruce Wayne inches towards Batman
Season four of Gotham sees Scarecrow as the major antagonist, Barbara in a zombie avatar, and Bruce Wayne inching closer to Batman persona
The trailer for season four of Gotham was launched at the San Diego Comic-Con recently and it seems like a dark and treacherous yet thrilling ride. The five and a half minute long sizzle reel starts off with the highlights of Gotham season three and subsequently moves on to new clips from the upcoming fourth season. The extended trailer shows us the finale scene of season three where Bruce Wayne, played by David Mazouz, finally takes away a life despite the well known oath he had of never killing anyone.
The trailer also teases the rise of Batman, Scarecrow, Catwoman (Camren Bicondova) amongst others. The previous three seasons have slowly been inching towards Bruce Wayne's transformation to Batman, and has also shown us the origin stories of many of the well known, classic DC villains. Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), The Riddler (Cory Michael Smith), and a proto-Joker have been some of the villains that have had a big role to play in the shaping of Gotham's story line until now, and it seems like season four will be no different. Ivy and Selina (the younger characters), have also seen a massive climb in their character arc, slowly coming into their own as the feared future rogues that they are best known as.
The third season of Gotham saw the character of Bruce keeping a protective and watchful eye over his city, while Selina learned how to wield a whip. Jonathan Crane is also expected to return to his famous fear-gas-wielding Scarecrow persona after observing a long hiatus, according to a report by Screenrant. The end of the trailer reveals that Scarecrow will be a major antagonist in Gotham's fourth season. Ivy and Selina are also seen resembling their comic book avatars in the upcoming season. A zombie-like Barbara is revealed in the sizzle reel, which comes as one of the biggest shockers to the fans of the show.
Crystal Reed of Teen Wolf fame is all set to join the Gotham cast in season four as Sophia Falcone, Don Falcone's daughter and the deceased Mario's sister. Sophia will be seen as a smart and strong crime boss-lady, who is at the helm of her father's operations in south Gotham for over a decade.
Gotham's latest season will premiere on 28 September.
